The Egypt Centre’s school programme offers a unique and immersive educational experience for early years children through to comprehensive schools. Our programme combines exciting learning with hands-on activities, providing students with a holistic and fun understanding of ancient Egyptian history and culture. Through engaging museum visits packed with activities, we aim to spark curiosity, foster critical thinking, and inspire a lifelong passion for learning.

The teachers’ pack outlines the range of activities available for children when visiting the museum. Covering progression steps 2–4 for Welsh schools (Key Stages 1–3 in England) each activity is aligned with the Areas of learning and Experience (AOLEs) in the Curriculum for Wales. This enables teachers to understand how the specific activities relate to the curriculum and in turn how they relate to the children’s learning. Teachers are able to tailor the trip according to their individual requirements. For example, Humanities underpins all of the activities offered but they each also operate in a cross curricular sense. ‘Egyptian Numbers’, ‘Egyptian Measuring’ and the game ‘Senet’ for example all contain elements of the Numeracy strand whereas ‘Pyramids’ and the ‘materials’ handling activity both cover Science and Technology. The teachers’ pack provides an invaluable insight into the diverse range of activities offered in the museum and how these relate to the statutory areas of the National Curriculum for Wales.
