Discover the joy of giving back while immersing yourself in the fascinating world of ancient Egypt. The Egypt Centre offers a rewarding volunteering experience for individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Join our dedicated team of award-winning volunteers and contribute to the preservation and promotion of this ancient civilisation. From assisting with gallery duties and research to engaging with visitors and participating in special events, there are countless opportunities to make a meaningful impact.

There are two ways to get involved, you can volunteer or undertake a work placement:

  • Volunteering is a commitment made for free to the museum regularly over a sustained period. Most people volunteer between 3–17 hours per month. You can volunteer between Tuesday–Saturday 10 am–4 pm. All ages (10–99+ years) are welcome.

  • work placement is a shorter unpaid (usually full-time) intensive work programme designed to give you a practical idea of what it is like to work in a museum in a front-of-house capacity. Placements can last from one week onwards; it’s your choice. Our work placements are open to people from the age of 14 onwards.
